How to pass payment processing fees to customers instead of absorbing them

What are additional fees?

You can pass Stripe processing fees to customers by adding them to the total checkout price. This covers the cost of payment processing.

How to add a fee

  1. Go to Pages and open the page you want to edit.
  2. Go to Checkout → Additional fees.
  3. Click Add fee.
  4. Enter a Label for the fee.
  5. Select a fee type: Fixed amount or Percentage.
  6. (Optional) Check Apply to a specific payment method and select the payment methods.
  7. Click Save.

The fee appears in the price breakdown on your page.

How fees are calculated

  • One-time checkouts — fees are calculated on the amount after bulk discounts and coupon code discounts.
  • Subscriptions — fees are calculated on the amount after coupon code discounts. For subscriptions with one-time charges, fees are calculated on the first payment and adjusted for recurring payments. When a limited-duration coupon ends, fees are recalculated.

Quantity multiplication

  • On checkout pages, fixed fees can multiply based on the quantity selector.
  • On event pages, fixed fees can multiply based on the number of tickets selected.
