How to cancel a customer's subscription

What happens when you cancel a subscription?

Canceling a subscription stops future charges. The customer will not be billed on their next billing period. Canceling does not refund any previous payments.

How to cancel a subscription

  1. Go to Orders → Subscriptions from the left-side menu.
  2. Select the subscription you want to cancel.
  3. Click Cancel subscription from the right-side menu.
  4. In the cancellation pop-up:
    • Enter a reason for cancellation (internal only, not shown to the customer).
    • Select when to cancel: Immediately, At the end of the current period, or On a custom date.
    • Enable or disable the Cancellation email to the customer.
  5. Click Cancel subscription.

After cancellation

The subscription status changes to Canceled in your reports, along with the cancellation reason and date.

Cancellation email

If enabled, the customer receives an email notifying them of the cancellation. The email includes a link to the customer portal.

A log of the sent email appears under the Emails tab on the subscription.
