Managing capacity
How to use Event Maximum Capacity, Ticket Group Capacity, and Ticket Type Available Quantity to manage event capacity
What is event capacity?
Capacity limits the total number of tickets available for an event or specific ticket type. Once capacity is reached, the event is sold out and no more tickets can be purchased.
How capacity is checked
When a guest purchases a ticket, the system checks in order:
- Does the ticket type have available quantity?
- Does the ticket group have remaining capacity?
- Does the event have remaining capacity?
If any check fails, the purchase is blocked.
Event maximum capacity
The total limit for the entire event. When reached, the event is sold out.
Ticket group capacity
The total limit within a single ticket group. When reached, all ticket types in that group are sold out, even if the event still has remaining capacity.
Ticket type available quantity
The limit for an individual ticket type. When reached, that ticket type is sold out, even if the group and event still have remaining capacity.
Disabled ticket types with sales still count towards capacity. Archived ticket types do not.
