How to sell digital downloads

What are digital downloads?

Digital downloads are files uploaded to your checkout that customers can download after payment. Downloads can be added to any pricing type: one-time, subscription, payment plan, or pay what you want.

All file types are supported. There is no limit to the number of files. We recommend files no larger than 1GB.

How to add files

1. Go to Pages and open the checkout you want to edit.
2. Go to Details → File downloads.
3. Click Upload files or drag and drop your files.

You can reorder files by dragging and dropping, rename them for clarity, or delete and re-upload to update a file. Customers are not notified of file updates — contact them directly.

How customers access their downloads

After a successful payment, customers can access their files in three ways:

• Confirmation screen — click View files to go to the customer portal.
• Confirmation email — click Access your downloads here to go to the customer portal.
• Customer portal — log in and download files directly.

If you use a custom confirmation email, include a Customer portal link so customers can access their downloads.

Downloads for inactive subscribers

By default, downloads become unavailable if a subscription is canceled or expired. To allow continued access, enable Allow file downloads after subscription cancellation in Details → File downloads.
