Fixed tax
How to create and charge reusable fixed tax rates on your checkout pages and events.
Fixed tax allows you to manually create reusable tax rates for your orders and bookings.
You can:
- Create multiple tax rates
- Set tax as inclusive or exclusive
- Set a default tax rate
- Use different tax rates across checkout pages and events
Create a fixed tax rate
To create a fixed tax rate:
- Go to Store settings
- Click Tax
- Click Add fixed tax rate
- Enter a tax name
- Enter the tax percentage
- Choose whether the tax is inclusive or exclusive
- Click Create
Inclusive vs exclusive tax
Inclusive tax is included in the displayed price.
For example:
- Product price: $100
- Tax: 20% inclusive
- Customer pays: $100
Exclusive tax is added on top of the displayed price.
For example:
- Product price: $100
- Tax: 20% exclusive
- Customer pays: $120
Default fixed tax rate
You can set a tax rate as the default for new checkout pages and events using Fixed tax.
To set a default fixed tax rate:
- Go to Store settings
- Click Tax
- Click the menu next to the tax rate
- Click Set as default
Apply fixed tax to a checkout page or event
To use Fixed tax on a checkout page or event:
- Open the checkout page or event
- Click Checkout
- Click Tax
- Select Fixed tax
- Choose a tax rate
The checkout preview will update to show the tax breakdown and total price.
Create tax rates from a checkout page or event
You can also create fixed tax rates directly from a checkout page or event.
Any tax rate created there will also become available in Store settings and on other checkout pages and events.
Edit or delete tax rates
You can:
- Rename existing tax rates
- Delete tax rates
- Change which tax rate is set as the default
Tax percentages and tax behavior cannot be changed after a tax rate has been created.
