Collect billing and shipping addresses

What is the Address field?

The Address field provides a complete address form with autocomplete. It collects the street address, city, state or region, postal code and country together. The address inputs and labels adjust to the selected country.

Add an Address field

1. Open the page you want to edit.
2. Select Form fields in the sidebar.
3. Under Quick add, select Address. You can also select Address from the field picker.
4. Click the added field to open its settings.
5. Choose Billing addresses only or Billing and shipping addresses.
6. Click Save.

If your page already has an Address field, click it to change its settings.

Choose which addresses to collect

Billing addresses only

Select Billing addresses only to collect the address used for billing without asking for a shipping address.

Use this option when you do not need delivery details, such as when selling a digital product or service.

Billing and shipping addresses

Select Billing and shipping addresses when you also need an address for delivery.

Customers enter their shipping name and address. They can select Billing address is the same as shipping to use that address for billing, or enter a separate billing address.

Set the default country

The Default country setting controls which country is initially selected.

Choose:

• Detect from visitor to automatically select a country based on the visitor.
• A specific country to use as the default.

A default country does not restrict the countries customers can select. To limit their choices, use Limit billing countries or Limit shipping countries.

Limit billing countries

Use Limit billing countries to control which countries customers can select for their billing address.

1. Open the Address field’s settings.
2. Enable Limit billing countries.
3. Open Select billing countries and choose the countries to allow.
4. Click Save.

Limit shipping countries

Use Limit shipping countries when you only deliver to certain countries.

1. Open the Address field’s settings.
2. Select Billing and shipping addresses.
3. Enable Limit shipping countries.
4. Open Select shipping countries and choose the countries you deliver to.
5. Click Save.

Billing and shipping country restrictions are configured separately. For example, you could allow billing addresses from several countries while limiting delivery to one country.

Collect a shipping phone number

To collect a phone number alongside the shipping address:

1. Open the Address field’s settings.
2. Select Billing and shipping addresses.
3. Enable Collect shipping phone number.
4. Click Save.

A phone input appears alongside the shipping details. This option is available when collecting both billing and shipping addresses.

Show the Address field conditionally

Use Conditional logic in the Address field’s settings to show it based on an answer elsewhere in the form.

For example, show the Address field when a customer selects delivery in another field.

Collect address details using individual fields

You can also build your own address form using separate fields instead of the dedicated Address field.

Use Single line text for the street address, apartment or suite, city, state or region, and postal code. Use the dedicated Country field for country selection.

Assign each field the matching billing or shipping Data type. For example, a city field should use Billing address city or Shipping address city.

To configure each field:

1. Go to Pages and open the checkout you want to edit.
2. Go to Checkout → Fields → Add custom field.
3. Add the following fields (field type → data type):
   • Name — Text → Customer name
   • Email — Email → Customer email address
   • Address line 1 — Text → Shipping address
   • Address line 2 — Text → Shipping address line 2
   • City — Text → Shipping address city
   • State/Province — Text → Shipping address state
   • Postal code — Text → Shipping address postal code
   • Country — Country → Shipping address country
4. Check Required on each field as needed.
5. Click Save.

"Customer name" and "Shipping address" fields must be added and set to required before you can use the other shipping address data types.
